Today IT support requires 24/7/365 connectivity. According to Dan Wentzel, Service Delivery Manager at ASG, the company found it difficult to provide the connectivity required, as the ADSL and bonded-ADSL business solutions it tried were prone to failure.
“We wanted stability, which we weren’t able to get with ADSL. We also need high levels of bandwidth as regular updates, backups, and patch information are being sent between our data centre and clients.”
He adds that the company also tried using bonded ADSL, where multiple ADSL lines are brought in, thereby providing a much higher level of redundancy. However, says Wentzel, redundancy of this nature only works well if the ADSL is arriving from different exchanges. The solution provided to ASG had all the lines delivered from a single exchange, which meant that the potential remained for something to go wrong and all the lines to be lost.
“What we really required was a flexible, superior and robust infrastructure with a single point-of-contact offering the best service,” he says.
ASG turned to Liquid Telecom, which installed a 5Mbps Neobroadband Fibre line, which offers a superior and robust infrastructure.
“This was exactly what we required, as the solution also offered a symmetrical, uncapped and unshaped solution with up- and downstream speeds of up to 15Mbps,” says Wentzel.
“The Liquid Telecom solution provided us with superior network performance, thanks to low congestion. This meant we were able to obtain superior speeds, as well as lower latencies and we are also happy that this network cannot be affected by copper theft.”
Wentzel indicates that the Liquid Telecom offering also provided ASG with the flexibility to upgrade its service to a higher line-speed or downgrade to a lower line-speed, depending on its business requirements and connectivity.
“The other benefits include a single point-of-contact ensuing we didn’t have to face the daunting task of having to deal with multiple vendors and service providers, and it offered us a ‘Best Effort’ service. In other words, despite having no SLA, we still have access to an Enterprise Service Desk and IP consultants at all times.”
In the end, he says, fibre offers ASG much more stability than ADSL and even in the instances where the service has gone down, it has not been for more than a couple of hours.
“The service we have received from Liquid Telecom has been excellent and in the instances where there have been challenges, regardless of the time of day or day in the week, their people arrive to fix it,” he says.
The company’s Managed Services Division has been positively affected by this new service, he says, as it has helped to meet the department’s huge demand for stable, superior and robust Internet connectivity.
“The Liquid Telecom people who assisted us during the installation phase were also extremely competent and helpful. Now that we have it up and running they have gone out of their way to ensure that if any challenges arise, these are sorted out post haste. There is also constant feedback from their side. If there is any scheduled downtime due to servicing – something that only occurs outside of working hours - we are informed well beforehand. Their service is thoroughly professional.”
“Liquid Telecom is definitely beyond compare and they really are the go-to guys. They might be the new kid on the block, but their services are superior to anything else we have experienced.”
Asked if he would recommend the solution to other businesses, he replies: “This is exactly what we do. We are so confident in the solution that we are now resellers of this offering. I cannot in good conscience sell something that does not work properly, so I would really need to believe in something to sell it to a client. I am happy to resell Liquid Telecom products,” he concludes.
Plus points:
- Liquid Telecom is able to offer a flexible, superior and robust infrastructure with a single-point of contact.
- If you need 24/7/365 connectivity, Liquid Telecom is the company that you can rely on.
- Fibre is much more stable than ADSL and guarantees connectivity.
